Living 40 years in the Caribbean isn't just about white sand, bikinis, and swaying palms. Not to discount their importance, however, this young journalist found soldiers waiting for him on the Haitian runway; relived the U.S. Grenada invasion; suffered through a St. Croix photo mission with a very sick pilot; the menacing Dominica carnival; growing ganja on the slopes in Montserrat; capture by druggies in Puerto Rico; a real voodoo ceremony in the mountains high above Port au Prince; buying a baby in Kenscoff; waiting with a pistol for the house invasion to happen; and other scary stuff. There were also fun and games in St. Thomas; Boat anchorages in the BVI; Drinking with the British navy in Tortola; Meeting a famous pirate on Orgy Island; in Anguilla before the Bobbies landed. So much more. Of course the beaches, bikinis, palm trees, culture, people, and places were magic. Enjoy.
