I am not a part, property or product of a dependent material substance. I am the unseen, independent Substance from which all things and beings originate: unborn, non-dual, ever-present Existence shining as whole, complete, blissful Consciousness, beyond all names and forms. I survive the death of all objects, including the body. Contrary to conventional wisdom, I am an impersonal What, not a personal who. If this list of features seems a bit daunting, do not worry; it is my job to prove that it’s true. This book’s appearance addresses the plethora of modern misconceptions about the spiritual nature of reality, which echo misunderstandings about enlightenment that stretch back to time’s beginning. It draws on an important workbook on non-duality by Shankaracharya, an eighth-century Vedic sage, titled Aparokshanubhuti [Direct Experience] . The ideas are not mine, though I endorse them wholeheartedly. They set me free and showed me why I could love myself unconditionally. It is a provocative book; do not read it with an open mind unless you are ready for your life to change for the better.
