Senthil, a physical therapist from Madras, has made a difficult decision: He will move to America, thousands of miles away from his sweetheart Sumathi, to secure the future of his siblings in India and save up enough to get married. Will America give Senthil the future he desires? Or will he be estranged forever from all he holds dear? From a dedicated and charming physical therapist in India to a successful and endearing physician assistant in America, Senthil takes us through two decades of surprises and self-discovery―he wins numerous hearts but has his own torn in two. Through a delightful series of slice-of-life vignettes spanning two continents, I Have No Earthly Idea explores the delicate balance between seeking security and following your heart. A refreshingly honest tale of love and heartbreak, S.K. Radhakrishnan's novel is a story about a man who spends his life seeking security, only to lose the one thing he holds most dear. It is a must-read for anyone who loves romance and the medical profession. Although it's filled with subtle, bittersweet irony, the novel is so warm and heartfelt that it leaves you feeling charmed, rather than melancholic. Reviewed By Divine Zape for Readers' Favorite I Have No Earthly Idea by S.K. Radhakrishnan is a wonderful, bittersweet romance with an international setting in India and theUnited States. Senthil is a physical therapist who is deeply in lovewith Sumathi. Both of them work hard to make ends meet, support theirfamilies, and save money for their wedding. But they know it's hard inIndia, and that is why Senthil makes the difficult decision to move tothe United States. He becomes a dedicated and successful physicianassistant in America. Can he keep the flame burning for Sumathi in afar-off foreign land or will the distance erode the love he has for her? S.K. Radhakrishnan's novel is very well written and it is a beautifulmeld of romance and adventure, a story that reflects the reality ofmodern-day couples in situations where a husband or wife has to leave in search of greener pastures. The narrative is filled with social andcultural commentaries that allow readers glimpses of Indian traditionsand life. For instance, talking about marriage, the author offersinsight: "In an arranged marriage, the parents of both the boy and thegirl sought out compatible horoscopes for prospective matches fromfamilies of the same religion, similar caste, and equal economicstandard." The narrative voice is strong and the writing confident, andthe phraseology is unique. I Have No Earthly Idea is written in a highly descriptive style and the author has the gift of bringing out emotionsin the characters. The pacing is leisurely but the meticulousness incharacter development makes this novel an exciting read. Life is not a genre. Why should a book be? I welcome you for an inter-continental and unique cross-cultural journey filled with romance, comedy, and drama all packed in one novel. Writing this novel was an emotional roller-coaster. It is filled with aspiration, inspiration, imagination, hope, dreams, and nightmares. As an author, I am not arrogant and expect people toread what I wrote. I am not delusional and think people will read what I wrote. On the contrary, I made myself vulnerable and only hope people will read what I wrote.   I Have No Earthly Idea , a novel filled with characters from professions seldom portrayed in novels and movies such as physician assistants, physical therapists, speech pathologists, and occupational therapists captures a sense of realism and adds authenticity to this romance inthe medical setting. I hope you find it to be a captivating read and trust to keep you engaged throughout the novel. I strived to broaden your cultural perspective and open your mind to love, romance, comedy, heartbreak, and diversity. I have highlighted how cross-cultural semantics play into our daily lives with humor and thoughtfulness.   I hope you enjoy my maiden novel.
