I Live In My Kitchen is more than a cookbook, it is a guide for those who are interested in taking the first step to healthy living. In the introduction, Elite describes her journey to healthy eating followed by tips for healthy cooking, a grocery shopping list for staples in the kitchen, which fats and oils to use for cooking, and quick recipes anyone can prepare. The book contains over 120 recipes varying from salads to main courses, and healthy desserts. None of the recipes contain refined sugar, white flour, processed oils, food coloring, preservatives or soy products. There is a minimal use of recommended dairy and grains in just a few recipes. You will find a rainbow of dishes using only wholesome ingredients including veggies, spices, nuts, eggs, chicken, beef, and fish. If you enjoy any of the following lifestyle diets, you will find this book particularly helpful: Clean Eating, Mediterranean, Paleo, Vegetarian, Diabetic, Celiac, Gluten Free, and Kosher. Elite proves to us that healthy eating doesn't mean boring and that a home cooked meal in the kitchen is the first step of the journey for an overall healthy lifestyle. The idea to create this book sparked three years ago when I began to document my daily cooking on Instagram. I enjoyed taking photos of my dishes and explain how to prepare the recipes. Before long, I compiled over 100 recipes and it was time to put them on paper. At that time I was enrolled in the Health Coaching course and my cooking has shifted gears. Instead of using boxed food and highly processed items, it consisted of wholesome ingredients with very little processed items. If I could do it, you can do it too. I wanted to share my recipes with you so you too will be able to prepare healthy meals for you and your family. In the introduction to the book, I share tips for healthy habits and what should be in your shopping cart, pantry and fridge if you wish to take the first steps to a healthy lifestyle. I believe that anyone can cook a delicious meal with just a few simple ingredients. The name 'I Live In My Kitchen' came about because as a mom of three children (they are now adults), I found myself and our family spend most of our time while we were home, in the kitchen. We did everything in the kitchen- homework, arts, crafts, laugh, cry, entertain and hang out- not just cook and eat. My day started and ended in the kitchen. 'But You Don't Have To!' If the thought of spending time in the kitchen cooking and cleaning scares you, have no fear! That is the main point of this book, in order for you to cook and eat healthily, you don't need to work very hard. In this book, I share many quick and easy recipes everyone would enjoy and leave you time to spend with your loved ones. I hope you find this book helpful and inspiring.
