Losing your first tooth is an adventure, sometimes funny, sometimes a little scary, but always exciting!  I Lost My Tooth!  is the story of one little girl's journey of losing her first eight baby teeth in all kinds of unexpected ways, even actually losing one and not knowing where it went. Along the way, kids learn why teeth get wiggly, how they fall out, and even why a dentist might sometimes have to help. With illustrations created by the author's granddaughter, a middle school student, an art instructor and a landscape architect, this book is as unique and joyful as the milestone it celebrates. At the end of the book, children have a special journal section to write down or draw their own tooth-loss adventures, turning the book into a keepsake they'll treasure. Perfect for kids ages 4-11 who are curious about losing their teeth, why they lose their teeth, and going to the dentist, I Lost My Tooth!  makes a sometimes-nervous experience into a fun and magical part of growing up. Doris Mitchell, First Grade Teacher As a teacher I'm always searching for books that connect to real-life experiences my students are going through, and I Lost My Tooth! fits beautifully. So many of my first graders are in the middle of losing their baby teeth, and the excitement is often a big part of our classroom chatter. This book captured that buzz and gave them a way to see their own stories reflected on the page. ***** Judith A. Five star review * * * * * Reading I Lost My Tooth! with my daughter was such a delightful experience. She's at the age where every loose tooth feels like an adventure, and this book captured that feeling perfectly. The little girl's excitement, her surprise when the tooth was suddenly gone, and the different ways she lost them all made my daughter giggle and nod with recognition. It turned what can sometimes be a scary milestone into something joyful and fun. Agnes McAllister I recently came across I Lost My Tooth! and couldn't help but smile. What you've created is more than a picture book, it's a celebration of one of childhood's biggest milestones. You capture the anticipation, excitement, and even confusion that comes with losing teeth in a way that is both comforting and educational. What stood out most is the way your book empowers children with knowledge. From explaining how and why baby teeth fall out to normalizing the occasional help from the dentist, you provide reassurance at just the right age when curiosity runs high and first wobbles start to happen. And the fact that the illustrations were a true collaboration between generations makes the book even more special. It's not just informative, it's personal. Additional children's books by Barbara Mis Kelly are I'm Too Full! and Is It Chocolate? They can be purchased on Amazon or from Bookbaby. Inspired by her grandchildren, Barbara Mis Kelly has published 3 children's books. Her latest book, "I Lost My Tooth!" is about a little girl who loses her baby teeth in several ways, even actually "losing" a tooth and not being able to find it. "Is It Chocolate?" was inspired by her grandson who loves chocolate. It is about a little boy who prefers chocolate above all other 'foods' and can even smell wrapped and boxed chocolate from across the room! "I'm Too Full!" is about a smart and creative little girl, Ms. Kelly's grand-daughter, who eats healthy food. The book has a wonderful message for parents and children about the importance of eating foods that are nutritious. The delightful illustrations show the little girl actively involved in many endeavors. Ms. Kelly grew up in Chicago with a love of books, reading, and writing poetry. She received her BA from the University of Illinois and a Masters in Government from Georgetown University. She taught high school government and history classes for several years, and then, while raising her family, was an active volunteer in her community, church, and schools. Ms. Kelly worked as the Development Director for a parochial school in Orange, CA for 14 years, and then moved to Indiana to work at the University of Notre Dame, creating a program for parents. After retiring, she began a new 'chapter' in her life by opening Baba Books LLC and self-publishing "Let's Go to Church!" an ABC book for children to take to Mass. The illustrations are all by children grades 3 - 8 which makes the book intriguing for children to read. All books can be viewed on BabaBookshop.com.
