(5-star rating) - A 'Wishing Shelf' Book Review "I must say, I had a very enjoyable evening tucked up by the fire enjoying this superbly illustrated children's story. Firstly, I must say, the artwork is excellent. In fact, not just excellent, it's stunning! The illustrator is fantastically talented at showing the reader everything they need to see to help them to not only understand the text but also to add to it. I find many picture books too 'Disney', but this book has a wonderfully 'classic' feel to it which I very much enjoyed. Now, on to the story. In a nutshell, this is a sweetly written, rhyming tale told from the POV of a parent who's wondering what the child will grow up to be. In a wonderfully rhythmical way, the author suggests the child might be a violinist (who will enrich our souls with wondrous music or wise words), a chef (who will cook the most delightful meals that help to warm the heart) or even an inventor (who might turn our waste to something that has worth). This colourful book has a joyful feel to it, suggesting new beginnings. It's basically saying you can be anything you want to be, and no matter what you choose, I will love you.
