I’ll Always Remember helps a child know their feelings of grief are normal. Told through rhyme from a child’s point of view, this book shares strategies empowering the child to learn ways of handling their grief reactions in a healthy way. The Parent Guide at the back of the book provides parents and counselors a deeper understanding of grief reactions and how to assist the child in managing those reactions. Included are suggestions of what to and not to say to someone who is grieving, activities to preserve memories, and scripts for starting conversations with ease and confidence. I’ll Always Remember is an excellent tool for parents who may also be grieving to grieve along with their child(ren). Kayla Marnach uses an easy-to-read-and-follow format to normalize grief and children’s grief reactions to any loss they may feel. I am excited to have been a part of the development…creating this amazing resource for families and children going through the difficult process of grief and loss. I will be utilizing this book as a resource to discuss grief and loss in group and individual sessions with children and their families. A book like I’ll Always Remember will be a great starting point and reference for families. — Christina Melendrez, LMSW, LCCA, TBRI® Practitioner Nurturing Change, Board Member IDEA Public School, School Counselor Another must-have on the office shelf! I'll Always Remember discusses all emotions and physical reactions to grief. — Carlin Giles, LPC-MHSP I have never seen nor read a book with such detailed guiding information. — Monica Croft, Advocate Coordinator/Trauma Specialist Read it in sections or all at once. The Parent Guide is invaluable! It includes" what to say" and "what not to say," and has kid-friendly conversation scripts. — Amanda Harrington , Children's Ministry, Steiner Ranch Location Coordinator It's thoroughly researched and well-written. This book will help all who experience loss at any age — Sandy Allred M.Ed., NCC, LPC This tiny mighty book, written for three to eight years old, provides a way to help children (and adults) understand the multitude of feelings they experience in grief. As with all Can-Do Kids Series books, I'll Always Remember includes: Kid-friendly characters - A relatable poem, written from a child's point of view - Parent Guide to help parents and caregivers understand their grief reactions - Detailed information on the reactions of grief - Commemorative activities to honor the loved one - What To Say and What to Not Say to those grieving - Scripts to use with the child during their time of grief   When people hear the word "Grief" they typically think about a loved one dying, but there are many events that can cause feelings of loss and grief—parental separation or divorce, loss of former school or teacher, loss of best friend because of a move, loss of felt safety because of tragedy or destruction, etc. These losses are often not seen as impactful as a loss of death. However, for children, loss is often measured the same until they can process and understand loss, which is what makes I'll Always Remember such an invaluable tool for parents and children.   I am so excited you are starting this journey, and I would love to hear how it goes! A native Texan, Kayla lives with her husband, puppy and 10-year-old kitty, in Austin, Texas. Her husband, two married daughters, faith, and the desire to help others through her words are her inspiration in many of her writings. She has been a guest speaker at the University of Texas, elementary schools, women's retreats, writer's groups, school conferences, therapy conferences, and foster and adopt conferences. At the request of teachers and therapists, she has provided stories broaching difficult situations. Her passion is to empower and validate children, helping them know they are not alone in their feelings or circumstances. Her goals are to share ways children can make positive decisions about their actions and understand and work with their feelings, and to educate adults on ways they can become an advocate for the children in their life. When she is not writing, she loves spending time with family and friends, reading, scrapbooking, and watching old movies. CanDoKidsSeries.com
