That walk is a rare opportunity to experience the life, if only for a brief moment, of someone who endured so much so that we could stand on firm ground enjoying what her hard work and sacrifice provided.Shoes are a symbol of a legacy of strength and faith in the face of uncertainty. As you slide your feet into the shoes of another, allow yourself to feel the leather rubbing against your soles, your toes and feel the comfort that only wear can bring. Each trial and tribulation, each victory and joy eases the tension in the leather and makes each step a little easier.As I stepped into my mother's shoes for this journey, I knew beyond any doubt that I owed her a debt I could never repay. The cost beyond my budget, yet, I am here today standing in the place she made because she dared put these same shoes on and broke them in for me and for whomever would wear them after I am gone.
