The first in the delicious new Vampire Queen YA series, a tale that rewrites the rules of blood-sucking eternity "I never expected to be sixteen again...then again, I never expected my past to come back and haunt me . . ." After centuries of terrorizing Europe as the world's most powerful vampire queen, Lenah is finally able to realize the dream all vampires have -- to be human again. After performing a dangerous ritual to restore her humanity, Lenah entered a century-long hibernation, leaving behind the wicked coven she ruled over and the eternal love, Rhode, who sacrificed himself in the ritual to grant her deepest wish. But when Lenah draws her first natural breath in centuries at Wickham Boarding School in Lover's Bay, Massachusetts, she rediscovers a human life that bears little resemblance to the one she had known. As if suddenly waking up a teenager isn't hard enough, she has to dress herself appropriately, go to class, and be gawked at as the beautiful new girl, all while learning her new human senses and weaknesses -- and trying not to fall in love with Justin, the most popular guy in school. And right when she thinks she has the hang of it, the worst happens: Her old life collides violently with her new one, making Lenah realize how attached she's become to her humanity. How can she choose between protecting her new friends and honoring her past? “ Infinite Days is a wonderfully sexy, dark novel full of lush prose. Rebecca Maizel is a marvel, writing more than just a story, she creates myth with every page.” ― Carrie Jones, author of New York Times bestselling series , NEED Gr 8 Up–Lenah Beaudonte is an extremely powerful and ruthless vampire queen who is more than five centuries old. Unhappy with her vampire existence, she implores her vampire maker and lover Rhode to uncover an ancient ritual that can give her back her humanity. After hibernating for 100 years, Lenah wakes up as a human teenager enrolled at the exclusive Wickham Boarding School. Rhode has done everything to give her a new chance at life and in doing so has made the ultimate sacrifice–his own life. Mourning for him, Lenah seizes the chance to walk in the sunlight, have fun with friends, experience real emotions, and fall in love with a great guy. But Lenah knows that it is only a matter of time before her vicious coven opens her crypt and discovers her missing. Linked to her by dark magic, they will not rest until they find her, destroying the world she has come to love. Lenah is a unique and complex character whose emotions ring true. Her horrifying life as a vampire is revealed through a series of detailed and riveting flashbacks that are extremely effective in driving the plot and the decisions she makes. A promising start to a series, the story is filled with action, romance, longing, deception, and sacrifice. It will leave vampire fans thirsting for more.–Donna Rosenblum, Floral Park Memorial High School, NY. (c) Copyright 2010. Library Journals LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Media Source, Inc. No redistribution permitted. A vampire longs for humanity in this uneven first novel. After a ritual in which her coven lover sacrifices himself, centuries-old European vamp Lenah wakes up as a wealthy, mortal student at a swank New England boarding school. She acclimates quickly to her new life and is even drawn into a love triangle with sensitive artist Tony and hot jock Justin. But the clock is ticking as the rest of Lenah’s coven hunts for her, intent on bringing her back into the undead fold, whether she wants it or not. Maizel’s earnest, detailed prose leans toward the self-conscious, and her contemporary teen dialogue is occasionally awkward: “I’ve loved you for, like, ever so there’s no use in, like, convincing me it’s not true.” More compelling are the flashbacks of Lenah’s violent, romantic history, rich in vampire lore, even though the transitions are not always smooth. Nevertheless, Twilight fans looking for more fodder to satisfy their insatiable hunger for paranormal romance will find some sustenance here. Rebecca Maizel is a marvel, writing more than just a story, she creates myth with every page.” ― Carrie Jones, author of NYT bestselling series, NEED “Once the most feared vampire in the world, Lenah Beaudonte wants what all vampires eventually want: to be human and feel, love and even cry again. After an elaborate ritual that involves the death of her soul mate for the last 592 years and a 100-year secret hibernation at her English countryside estate, Lenah awakens at an elite New England boarding school, returned to her former 16-year-old human self. As she adjusts to the new century (almost too quickly, "chatting up" friends in mere days), tries to fit in with her peers and experiences her first human love with gorgeous and intelligent Justin and guilt for her past ruthless killings, flashbacks acro
