A graduate of Wellesley College and NYU School of the Arts, Marcia Dixey Jory has worked as a theatrical costume designer for more than twenty-five years, sixteen of which she spent at the Actors Theatre of Louisville where she costumed over eighty productions. She has taught costume design in graduate and undergraduate programs and is a member of The United Scenic Artists' Union. Presently, she lives and works in Seattle. The Ingenue in White, a collection of essays from the author's experiences as a theatrical costume designer, recounts the pleasures and pitfalls of working with actors, directors, playwrights, fellow designers, and costume shops. She was a resident costume designer at Harvard University and has taught costume design at Tufts University, The University of Massachusetts at Amherst, Bennington College, and Smith College.
