When preparing for motherhood, we often forget that our children hold the most influential voice on this journey. Between rationing snacks, breaking generational curses, daily routines and navigating matters of social justice, Inside Voice is an open diary of a new mom having open chats with her Canadian born, Black and South Asian daughter. These bittersweet, at times comical, reflections offer insight into the inner workings of a mother trying to both expose and protect her daughter from the realities of this world. The lessons come from all directions, and serve as a reminder to never discount the wisdom of the young.
