Adopt this Textbook today! Jeff was born near the only phosphate producing mine (Dorowa) in Zimbabwe, hence many local adults worked at that mine. When time came to decide on what major to choose in college, it was no doubt that geology was only option he settled on. Jeff graduated from five different universities in Zimbabwe (1), South Africa (2), and the United States (2). These universities equipped the author with unique ways of dissemination of knowledge, some of which are reflected in this Text. Additionally, Jeff also had a one summer stint in Rennes and Vandoeuvre-les-Nancy, France, and other destinations across the globe. Consequently, any reader of this Text will encounter a local example or two no matter which part of the globe you are in. Jeff also spent a couple of years working either at mines or on exploration projects targeting various minerals such as gold, platinum-group elements, nickel, and copper, among others. He also worked on abandoned coal mines dealing with abandoned mine drainage issues in the Pittsburgh coal bed in the Appalachian basin, USA. Upon graduation with a PhD, Jeff specialized in clarifying principles of geology to students who typically register for an introductory geology course for the first time in college or in their lives. This textbook is a product of his zeal to simplify geology for such students, enhancing their comprehension of this subject. The author’s goal is that this textbook will be the one of choice for both students and instructors irrespective of one’s location.
