This is a photo book that contains about 300 photos that Masato Yoshizaki shot in several places in Iran such as Mashad, Teheran, Esfahan in 1977, 2 years before the Iranian Revolution. He says in the preface as follows. From the end of 1975 to the next new year, I made a trip to Iran from the Afghanistan border. The people were poor in Afghanistan, but they looked happy with a full of gentle smile. However, when crossing the border, the atmosphere changed. Iran was a wealthy and glamorous country, but the people looked somehow sad without smile. Two years later, the Iranian royal family was exiled abroad and Afghanistan was invaded by the Soviet army. This was the beginning of the storm. The storm spread to countries around and continues until today after 40 years. "Iran 1977" is the sequel of "Afghanistan 1976". It is my pleasure if you would look them comparing both books.
