There are two diametrically opposing camps about judging. The first group is the speck hunters, and the second is the “I’m okay; you're okay; we are all okay” group. There is a biblical approach that rejects both extremes. Jesus said, “Do not judge, so that you will not be judged. For in the way you judge, you will be judged; and by your standard of measure, it will be measured to you. Why do you look at the speck that is in your brother’s eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? (Matt 1-3). The we’re all okay group stops there, but Jesus didn’t: “ You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother’s eye!” (v.5). He also said, “Do not judge by the outward appearance, but judge with righteous judgment” (John 7:24). There is judgment that is unrighteous, and there is judgment that is righteous.
