James Duke and the Dark Night is a supernatural science-fiction fantasy. Walking through the darkness toward unknown adventures, James Duke has a lust for life and he wants to experience more. He keeps falling asleep and waking up in mythical places, where the unexplained seems to thrive. Exotic destinations, delicious food, ghosts, mysteries, extraterrestrials and danger compete with his life on Earth. Who will win? The Mission and the Plan- The Main Characters: James and Anna -an adventurous British gentleman and his mysterious wife live in London. Jim and Haley -a skeptical American supernatural investigator and his suspiciously robotic realtor girlfriend live in Boston. Emma Jean and Edgar -are visitors to Planet Earth who have a plan to take everyone to another world, if they can make it happen. Beam Me Up! James: "James could not believe his eyes when he awoke. He was in a small, enclosed area. Wood carvings were surrounding him, and he could smell the scent of the sea air, just like in his dream. James opened his eyes and realized he was on the pirate ship. The field with mounds of Earth and the black hole that tried to swallow him up were all just part of a very elaborate dream he had been having. James noticed that the captain was not in his room, or as far as he could tell, anywhere near him. So, he decided he would have a thorough look around his room to see if he could piece anything together that made any sense. James opened the nightstand drawer next to his bed. Inside of it, he saw various feathers, jewels, coins, and an old, black leather book with a well-worn cover and a red ribbon in the middle of it, holding a place on a page. James tried to fight it, but he could not resist." Jim: "Jim looked up to see the outside of what appeared to be a spaceship crossed with a giant, modern, mobile home. Well, that's the first description that popped into Jim's mind. It was as large as a popular, home chain store, although two stories high and rounded at the edges. It was silver on the outside and a thin, long, flat circle surrounded it, almost like a ring of Saturn. A sort of conveyor belt made of light was glistening and moving in and out of what appeared to be a door, or window near one of the sides of whatever it was. Jim could see the Cat Sith that used to be Emma Jean laying leisurely on its side and being lifted up into the enormous contraption by the conveyor belt made of light." Haley: "A tiny tear escaped from the left corner of Haley's eye, the eye that was human. Haley's right eye had been implanted when she had her operation to become a cyborg at two years old." Edgar: "Edgar was there, at the library reference desk, sorting through dusty volumes of old books. "Ah, Jim, how are you today?" Edgar managed, without looking up. "Fine, I suppose. Well, you see..." "You need something", Edgar interrupted." Emma Jean: "Jiiiiaaaammm, follow meee," said Emma Jean, turning around while doing so. Her eyes were slightly yellow, glowing and her voice sounded very different from the Emma Jean that Jim usually knew." Anna: "Anna opened another secret door in the purple room that she has decorated to look like Vraygar, and they both walked through it, into a tunnel, damp and muddy with ancient oil dripping from the walls."
