Japanese incense ceremony, Koh-do is the most sophisticated way to experience the fragrance of agarwood, especially kyara, the highest quality agarwood from Vietnam. Since the creation of the Japanese incense ceremony, the concept of Mon-koh, literally “listening to incense” has been of central importance. Mon-koh encompasses mindful, directed attention to the fragrance of each incense wood. One is supposed to be completely open to each fragrance in a relaxed and selfless manner, to explore the world of scent and feel sense of unity. Incense has been linked to ceremonies, religions, medicines, and cosmetics worldwide for thousands of years. While Chinese texts in the Tang Dynasty (618-907) indicate that numerous exotic aromatic substances were already being introduced into China through the land and maritime Silk Road. Unlike agarwood and kyara, frankincense deteriorates as time passes. However, frankincense will gain an eternal life in binding with enzyme of fresh flowers, by creating fermented incense with other substances. It is just like a miracle. The powerful lotus plant is incredibly versatile and it has been used in traditional medicine and cuisine for centuries. The roots and seeds are used as herbal medicine. Fermentation has long been practiced for the processing of a large variety of food. Supposedly during the fermentation process, it creates higher concentration of nutrients and antioxidants as an active ingredient booster.
