And while I would probably recommend to new readers to begin with the previous books in this series, more specifically the second and third as they introduce Jarmen then Jane. Or it might be more difficult to understand the dynamic between the couple and the side characters. But with the peculiar timelines of the narrative, it may not be so challenging to read it without further background. Still! And while it is also a romance, as the love story is what drives Jarmen to move forward, it is even more a tale of friendship, shattered dreams, hope and the challenges people will face for the persons they care about. Jarmen and Jane are a sweet couple, both survivors of horrendous traumas, each trying to built a new life with the people who become like family to them.
