Americans generally receive thirteen years of education from kindergarten through twelfth grade. The curriculum for those years is usually coordinated from one year to the next to build upon what was previously taught. How many years of coordinated spiritual education have you received? Fewer and fewer churches have Sunday School where the spiritual instruction may be coordinated by the central office of the denomination. Most mega-churches do not have Sunday School. They rely primarily on small group Bible Study and the once weekly Sunday morning sermon. A comprehensive curriculum of spiritual instruction is rare in most of today’s churches. Most churches do not have a dedicated office of teacher to disciple its members. As a result, most of today’s Christians have a very shallow knowledge of spiritual concepts and doctrines. While the pastors of the church who preach on Sunday mornings have been discipled in various colleges, universities, and seminaries, the congregation itself is not trained in a similarly purposeful way. Most Christian’s spiritual knowledge is gleaned from a hodgepodge of three-point Sunday sermons, small group Bible Study, television evangelists, and secular media. This results in a mixture of beliefs that can contradict one another and lead to an ineffective spiritual walk with God. The Bible categorizes believers into four levels of spiritual maturity. The first label is babes (1 Corinthians 3:1). The second label for Christians is children (1 John 2:13). This category of believers is a step up from babes, but it still is not the desired level for a Christian. A child has a beginning understanding of spiritual concepts and doctrines, but is easily led astray from Truth. This is the level for the majority of Christians today. They do not have a firm grasp of the essential doctrines from scripture (1 Corinthians 14:20). They are destined to be a victim who will fall for the next great revelation from God espoused from some antichrist source (Ephesians 4:14). The third group of believers is young men/women in Christ (1 John 2:13). These believers are strong, the Word of God abides in them, and they have overcome the wicked one (1 John 2:14). These Jesus Christ Disciples are putting into practice the spiritual knowledge that they possess. These Christians will persist in running the race because they understand they must, by faith, diligently continue to seek God (Hebrews 11:6). The final stop for a Jesus Christ Disciple is father/mother—a perfect man/woman in Christ (Ephesians 4:13). Very few Christians will attain this level while on earth. This level is what the maturing Christian is striving for. Christians who are not striving to be more Christ-like every day will fall back into the child category spiritually. The purpose of this discipling curriculum is to take any believer from his/her current spiritual level (babe, child, young man/woman) and give them the spiritual knowledge and ability to be a perfect Jesus Christ Disciple. Much of the material used in the Jesus Disciples Seminary lessons was developed by looking at every scripture throughout the Bible on a certain topic or doctrine. Those scriptures are then categorized into subtopics and arranged to form a teaching lesson on that topic or doctrine. This curriculum was developed by Bob Reid, his wife Karen, and his daughter Leigh over a period of several years. More information on Faith Tech Ministries can be found at https://faithtech.org/. This second course of the curricula is on Faith. The importance of Faith in the Jesus Disciple’s life cannot be overstated (Hebrews 11:6). Most people fail in their service to God because they do not know God’s kind of faith. Until a believer understands faith, he/she will not spiritually progress from a babe in Christ to a perfect man/woman. Are you ready to become a Jesus Christ Disciple
