Derived from a lifelong passion to explore Alaska’s Arctic by dogteam, Joe Henderson and his Alaskan malamutes have taken dog-mushing and Arctic exploration to a new level. He is the most traveled Alaskan Arctic explorer alive today. Joe and his team have broken several distance dog-mushing records and have accomplished what has said by many to impossible. But Joe still attributes 100% of his success to his dogs. Joe’s quote: “There’s only one dog breed that could accomplish this and that’s the Alaskan malamute.” With Joe’s unconventional approach to training and building a dog-team he has established the most resilient, hard-core Alaskan malamute dog-team in modern times. He shares a special bond with his team and each dog. Joe’s training philosophy is very simple. To quote Joe, “The secret to successfully building a team that exhibits incredible, strength and stamina is to secure a strong bond of love, respect and trust with your dogs.” Joe also notes: “Every member has his or her place in the team. Some dogs are small, maybe too small and some are too large for certain types of snow conditions. But they are all part of the team that is strategically woven together to create an impenetrable strong cohesive unit. No one is removed from the team for being too small, too large, too fast, or too slow. If we are patient they will find their niche.”
