Steve Revis is an agricultural, well-drilling missionary. He and his wife, Judy, also minister to Haitian children, both hearing and deaf. As the Lord has lead them through both good and bad times, two constants remain at the core of their ministry: they get involved in the people s lives and they show them a God who is real. Part One Judy and Steve Revis s missionary journey unfolds through specific experiences presented alongside an actual journey into the remote Northwest Mountains of Haiti. Part Two Opportunities to serve, presented in a narrative/story form, informs those who have the hearts to go and work among the Haitian people. As research for Just Go!, Joyce Barnett and Carol Heilman traveled into the remote northwest mountains of Haiti with Steve and Judy Revis, a missionary couple who love Jesus and the Haitian people. Carol Guthrie Heilman has contributed articles concerning the Revis couple s work to The State Newspaper of Columbia, SC, the Times and News of Hendersonville, NC, and the magazine Alive! Carol, raised in coal mining camps of Eastern Kentucky, is a retired elementary schoolteacher. Her Appalachian roots have especially influenced her fictional writings. While living in Irmo, SC, Carol formed a local chapter of the South Carolina Writers Workshop and taught senior adults creative and autobiographical writing. Carol and her husband find nourishment for their souls in the North Carolina Mountains where they live near Etowah. Joyce Lance Barnett, a longtime friend of the Revis family, has worked alongside Steve and Judy in Haiti and has written many of their newsletters. She is an author and publisher of other missionary and church newsletters as well. The Cup of Comfort book series featured several of Ms. Barnett s non-fiction pieces and the University of North Carolina placed her word-portrait of an Appalachian mountain man in its historical files. Joyce resides on her family s farm near Pisgah National Forest in Western NC. The old home place has inspired many of her writings complete with her illustrations in pastels. How are ratings calculated?
To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzes reviews to verify trustworthiness.
