In this second installment of the Fighting for Justice in San Diego Series, for young San Diego lawyer Brian Roth, it's now ten years later. Quick as a minute, a decade has gone by. During that time, Brian Roth has learned several things about being a lawyer. He's learning the art of being a lawyer, honing his craft and prosecuting his cases, sometimes all the way through trial. He's also learned about the difficult business of making his solo law practice profitable, making a living, especially considering the competitive landscape of being a lawyer in sunny San Diego. And he has been also learning, along with his bride and love of his life, Roberta, how to raise a family that now has produced two children. And Brian is successfully doing all that. Raising his family and taking cases usually representing victims, victims of accidents and the legal system itself. And because of this, Brian is thrown into the toughest case, of his life. A sensational case where three victims, during a routine traffic stop, have been shot. Two police officers and a young civilian girl. And one of the officers is dead. A horrible case involving issues of whether the shooter had legal cause to shoot the victims or was guilty of murder and attempted murder. Was the young boy, the son of Vietnamese immigrants justified in shooting the police in self-defense, or was it murder? And it is in the middle of this question that Brain Roth takes the case of the young boy accused of these heinous crimes. Brian is the last line of defense for a boy who may not be guilty. Based on a true story, the novel takes us through the journey of what happened in this horrible case and it takes us through Brian's fight for justice because it is a case that calls for justice, demands justice. Even against powerful forces that are provoked by the shootings and work to thwart the pursuit of justice. Including forces highly placed in both the police department and elsewhere. Like his episode from his earlier life documented in Book 1, Brian Roth must either sink or swim.
