Kasuba’s Inner Safari Quest is told using a safari as an analogy for how we navigate through life. It may not come in the same form as Kasuba’s, but the story line usually goes something like this. You face a challenge or a major change in your life; a move to a new town, new school, or even a new grade, you need to start over, but you don’t know how to, or you simply don’t want to. You either reject it or embrace it, but one way or the other you have to learn how to evolve and create a new normal for yourself. Challenges are not reserved for adults; we face obstacles and fears even as young children. The answer, as you will learn from Kasuba’s journey, is that by embracing life’s changes and trusting your inner voice, you will rediscover your true self. When you realise that being yourself is all that really matters, you will come to the universal truth, that it’s cool to be you! The book has 6 parts including a foreword, a note to parents and educators, and an afterward. Part 1: Reflection – How did I get here? When you find yourself in a situation you don’t really want to be in, you go through a series of emotions, anger, regret, denial, looking back. You can’t quite accept where you are. You ask yourself questions on how you got where you are. These are the emotions twelve-year old Kasuba is grappling with as she contemplates her new life in a game reserve. Part 2: Resistance – I don’t want to be hereAfter going through the emotions in the reflection regret stage, we feel powerless like there’s nothing we can do to change our circumstances. As children (and adults even) we usually act up, and this is displayed through rudeness, sulking, giving the silent treatment. Part 3: Realisation - I'm going to be here for a whileOnce you go through the stage of resistance, you come to a point where you don’t have the energy to be angry anymore, but you’re still not in acceptance of your new situation. You do however, come to the realisation that if anything is going to change, that thing will have to be you. Part 4: Reassessment - What are my options? Now that you have come to the realisation that the only person who can change how you feel about and manage the situation you’re in is you, you ask yourself what you’re going to do about it. You re-evaluate your situation Part 5: Rediscovery - Listening to my inner voice & Doing the right thingWhen you open yourself up to possibility you see the world with completely new eyes. You have a new vantage point and you feel like a new person. Part 6: Recognition - This is me!Sometimes when you realise and rediscover who you really are, you question your greatness, and sometimes reject it, because for some reason it scares you.
