I was a Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps, Marine Security Guard Battalion. I had been re-assigned from my main duty station in, the U.S Embassy in Nicosia, Cyprus to the U.S Embassy in Tehran in 1979. The American Embassy in Iran came under siege by terrorists on February 14th of 1979- Valentine’s Day. This is the regular version of my book, but in the Special Edition I outline my realization of what I thought was my duty and rules of engagement, but it was clear that what was happening behind the scenes was beyond my understanding. The current administration and political environment were a complete surprise to me in my experience as an Embassy Marine Guard. My entire life and commitment to service were left to miracles that transpired during the attack, abduction, torture, release, and debrief as I made my way home. In the Special Edition, I offer one more chapter of insight and many rare, archived photos and newspaper articles that add depth to the aftermath of my experience. The media account at the time was tame in comparison to the reality that I reveal in the Special Edition. I offer this in hopes that you will understand the deep underpinnings of governments and their motivations on a global scale that occur even to this day. The vacuum of power in the Middle East in 1979 still exists to this day and it will continue until the end of time.

How are ratings calculated?
To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzes reviews to verify trustworthiness.
