“What's your name?” When we meet someone, one of the first pieces of information we either request or provide is our name. Names identify us. They distinguish us from others. They tell something of who we are. And the more of our names someone knows, the more they know about us. Too, the names people call us often reflect the intimacy of their relationship with us. All these roles our names play can be applied to our relationship with God. God created us with a soul-deep longing to be in intimate relationship with Himself and to show Him to others. Both of these life purposes are better accomplished when we know Him better…and the better we know His names, the better we know Him. Known By His Names guides readers along a Word-directed path toward greater knowledge of God…both for themselves, as they come to better know the God they are in relationship with, and for the friends, family, co-workers, and acquaintances they seek to show the God they know.
