Konora’s Shapes and More Konora’s Shapes were created for dance educators to use in their ballet and creative movement classes . With wide inside margins and blank even pages, instructors can cut out over fifty poses per book to make a set of images. Multiple ideas for engaging young dancers will ensure teachers cherish their collection of near-silhouette, dance-inspired poses. Students contemplate or re-create the poses as they develop an eye for detail; explore dance concepts; increase body awareness, spatial perception, and balance; and practice ballet technique. While designed for teachers, kids at home might enjoy using Konora’s Shapes or More Konora’s Shapes paired with Dancing Shapes or More Dancing Shapes . Home-school parents, physical education teachers, early education specialists, and curriculum planners might also appreciate this book’s ideas and games for kids’ movement and exercise . This collection of ballet photos would make a great recital gift to a beloved ballerina, ballerino, dance instructor, or studio owner. Konora (named from a desire to make something beautiful from corona virus) , our ballerina heroine, climbed the pre-professional ballet ladder up to Pacific Northwest Ballet's Professional Division . Along the way, she danced iconic roles such as Sugar Plum Fairy and Cinderella. While she's professionally performed for a myriad of companies and festivals, she covets the ultimate ballerina dream of a corps contract. She recently joined Ballet Idaho's trainee program on full-scholarship. Her mother is a photographer and award-winning dance teacher . She's worked in early childhood education, for non-profits supporting kids, and as a university English and dance teacher during a Peace Corps stint in Africa. She was on the Board of PEPS (Program for Early Parent Support) and recently joined Pacific Northwest Ballet's Board of Trustees. Mom lives in Seattle with her husband, teenage dancing son, and a handful of hard-luck cats. Her goal is a dance-book empire. Until ballet companies are back in the theater, each book sale elicits a donation to a ballet company struggling under COVID-19.
