Known only as The Dark Lady, she seeks to cast the people into a time of confusion, misery, and peril with the potential of civil war between Thendor and the Shlan while she spreads her taint. But she is not alone. A corrupt politician, Baron Thorn has a vested interest in seeing Gallenor burn. Working with the brainwashed Korvarsk, Thorn spurns the animosity that grows in the heart of the nation. To turn the sieging tide of tyranny, Markus needs to work with his newly found great-great-grandfather, Steffen, to find a cure for the Dark Lady's taint before it kills both Donna and Kiin and plunges the entire land into desolation.
