Legends & Traditions by the artist John Torina is an original colouring book that reflects more than illustrations. Appealing to all ages, experience the phenomenom of the colouring, enjoy the calm and let your imagination get deep into the wonderful world of colours. Each page is able to separate from the book to ease colouring and frame for decoration or special gift. John Torina, the youngest of six sons, was born to Sicilian, Ukrainian parents, July 31, 1953, in Memphis, Tennesse, USA.
From his youth he was interested in the observation of nature and the study of art and music. Since his teens, he has travelled the globe to some 20 countries as a painter and musician. In every location he seeks the ephemeral beauty of God's creation. Painting from life in all seasons on a grandscale has been his life long challenge. He has followed the dictum of the great French painter Millet: "One stroke from life is worth 1000 from the imagination''. Along with his travels, Torina earned his BFA and MFA in painting at the Memphis College of Art and the University of Oregon, where he won many scholarships, grants and awards. He continued his academic career by teaching painting, drawing and art history at 5 Universities over a period of 16 years. His work has been represented by many galleries and museums in United States and has been sought after worldwide by corporate and private collections. John Torina has raised two successful daughters and now lives in Costa Rica with his wife. Currently John Torina is painting the landscapes of Costa Rica. Towering mountains and beautiful beaches are his inspiration. John Torina paints directly in the fields, face to face, feeling and demonstrating the power of nature in his work. This is the first book of John Torina, the first of a serie of books to illustrate the culture, art, legends and traditions. "LEGENDS & TRADITIONS is a mirror reflecting different cultures around the world. In it you will find images of ancient art, traditions and legends that have been passed down to us. I hope you enjoy the beauty of our heritage." John Torina.
