When Ellen Mandel’s friend underwent a double mastectomy for stage-two breast cancer, she needed all the support she could get. Ellen, ever caring, answered the call. Hi there everybody, Letters From Dr. Wiggy " is doing  well I am happy to report. The front and back covers give you a birdseye view of my book and me, but I would like to add a bit more. This is not a book about illness , rather a book about laughter. It is not just bringing laughter to illness either- it is a book about dealing with stress depression anxiety etc etc. I have to deal with all of the aforementioned  and I have found that conventional medicine is wonderful if you connect with wonderful practitioners, but the final puzzle piece for  recovery is  humor,possitivity and optimism.I have been using my own prescription for myself dealing with my own Leukemia  and I wrote this book for my colleague at pace to help her through her chemo, radiation etc as she journeyed through her breast cancer.And my book is certainly not the be all and end all. Research the plethera of information under laughter therapy to discover a whole new world of helpful hints. There may be errors in here because as my book explains, I am a computer imbecile. I got left back in a computer six week course where the other eight people spoke very little English. Get my drift. My purpose is to reach out to you in spite of my severe limitations as a techie. Upon her graduation, her parents gave her the choice of attending any college in the country-as long as it was Brooklyn College. There she received a BA and MS in speech pathology. After ten years practicing speech therapy and teaching at Pace University, Mandel received her doctorate from Columbia University, picking up an MPhil along the way. During her time at Pace, she won many awards for teaching excellence, including the Carol Russet Award for Women in Higher Education. She retired in 2015. Ellen works closely with the Susan G. Komen Foundation, among other organizations, and has received the prestigious Jefferson Award for her lifelong service. Married to her childhood sweetheart, Dr. David Mandel, for forty-eight years, Ellen is the mother of two wonderful children, Leigh and Susannah, and has two beautiful grandchildren, Matthew and Jacob.
