The first three words of John's Gospel echo the very first verse of the Bible: "In the beginning ..." (Genesis 1:1). The Gospels of Matthew and Luke highlight Jesus' human lineage, while John highlights his divine nature. From the start, John sets Jesus in the center of God's eternal plan for the world.
