This booklet provides a quick overview of the history of Lily Dale's Healing Temple. Lily Dale, NY is the largest center for the religion of Spiritualism. Lily Dale was established more than 130 years ago by a group known as the Free-Thinkers Society of Chautauqua County. Originally meeting in Laona, New York, about 7 miles north of Lily Dale, these Free-Thinkers were considered radicals because they supported women's suffrage and Mesmerism (the forerunner of hypnosis and trance healing).
