Many books have been written about Winston Churchill. They have been splendid books because only prominent writers would dare attempt to describe fully the greatest of the man. Those books are sure to include the facts, stories, and impressions found in this short volume. But I have a different perspective. I grew up as a youngster during the Second World War, and my father had fought through eight campaigns during the First War. He was an infantryman in the Canadian Expeditionary Force, and I grew to believe that courage was essential in all things. That's why I watched carefully for any lack of courage in Churchill; but I found none. This is how I gained my simple, personal opinions of Churchill when I was a child. Then as I grew, and I watched him grow older, I wondered where he found the various talents and determination that made him the greatest statesman of the century. Of course we can find those characteristics in each of those splendid books written about him, and in the outstanding books written by him. All I can offer here is a brief appreciation for a monumental life. I think you'll enjoy what you find.

How are ratings calculated?
To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzes reviews to verify trustworthiness.
