1 in 5 Canadians are affected by mental health issues each year. 520 people will be hospitalized for these issues. Originally written as scribbles in a notebook, "Lonely Thoughts From the Psych Ward" is a reflection of living with the complexities of mental health issues - staring back at the beginning with the childhood trauma that was endured, the struggles of being diagnosed, the impact illness has on loved ones, to finally reaching a breaking point. Told through poetry and wandering writings, this journey follows the strength it takes to fight an invisible illness, the courage to still find beauty in the darkness, and learning to give oneself the grace to admit when they need help.
