The eighth book time-wise in the Scarlet Pimpernel series, this was actually the 6th one written (first published in 1917). The story, like most of the Scarlet Pimpernel series, is set in Europe during the French Revolution. When Lord Anthony Dewhurst elopes with the Lady Yvonne de Kernogan, her father is not impressed. He had wanted her to marry Martin-Roget the millionaire banker of Brest. Unbeknownst to the duc de Kernogan however, Martin-Roget is actually Pierre Adet, a peasant miller’s son who had started an uprising against the Kernogan family when he was younger. When Martin-Roget/Pierre Adet kidnaps both Yvonne and her father, planning on sacrificing them to the guillotine… or worse… it will take all the powers of the Scarlet Pimpernel (and Lord Tony) to save them. Black & Gold House of Books strives to provide the best quality literature at a fair price. We provide everything you want in a book and nothing you don’t. All of our publications provide the original text, edited for grammar and spelling, with foreign and deprecated words defined in footnotes, a brief author biography, and a list of the author’s other works. Most titles are available in paperback, hardcover and ebook formats.

How are ratings calculated?
To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzes reviews to verify trustworthiness.
