Love after Loss was written to share my journey with others. After experiencing a great loss, life as I knew would never be the same. Though my loss was an ex-husband it was still a major loss. I had to find a way to pick up the pieces and move on. I was now a single mother left to raise a child alone. I had to deal with divorce and death both at the same time. I must be honest; I was angry and mad at God. I didn’t understand. Why was all this happening to me? My professional life was taking off, but my personal life was in shambles. No one at my job knew of my struggles, I was able to mask it well. Over time, I was able to begin picking up the pieces, with spiritual guidance, therapy, and self-care. On the road to recovery, I was at the end of my doctoral program, due to graduate. My personal life even began to blossom. I want others to know if I can recover, so can they. Loss sometimes forces us to push through and persevere. Yes, I had moments when I waddled in self-pity, but guess what? After I cried my tears, and wiped them away, I got up and kept swinging. If I can, so can you. If I can accomplish goals amid a crisis, so can you. I am no different than all of you. Through this journey I have learned that what God has for me, will never miss me. So, I do not have to fret over what is to come, or will it come. Just like God is doing it for me, He will Do it for you. His word states, “Ask and it shall be given, seek and you shall find, knock and the door shall be opened to you.” Matthew 7:7-8. All you must do is ask, follow, and obey.
