With one in four women and one in seven men medicating themselves for anxiety and depression, I felt compelled to share my story. From experiencing debilitating anxiety and depression when I was 21 years old, to now experiencing a life filled with more love and joy than I ever thought was possible. The work I did, the help I got, the choices I made and, most notably, digging deep into my faith all contributed to my transformation from wanting my life to end to loving life and living it fully. Reflecting on the Gospels, I found my worth. I found profound healing. Most of all, I learned about love. I learned what love is and how to be love. Love is what we are made of and when we act as love, we are at homeostasis, free from stress and worry, and filled with hope and joy. We experience life the way Jesus intended for us, “I came that you can have life, and have it more abundantly" (John 10:10).
