I thought I'd be entertained by some talking animals, and that the author would barely scratch the surface of a serious topic while providing a healthy dose of much-needed compassion. Well, I was right about that. What I didn't expect, is that the Amy would skillfully and carefully touch on so many aspects of depression or "the sads." I didn't expect that with nearly every page turn there would be a takeaway that could easily change a child's behavior toward others as well as shine new understanding of their own feelings. And seriously, how can you not like a raven wearing high top tennis shoes? Well done and highly recommended.
