Chapter 1 BRUCE’S NEW INVENTION     On most days Lucy Lancaster went home after school. But not today.   No. Today was a special day. An EXCITING day!   Today Lucy got onto the bus with Bruce Bickerson and Heidi Heckelbeck, her two best friends.   Bruce was an inventor. He was always creating wacky new devices. And Lucy was going over to his house to help out as his inventor’s assistant!        As the bus made its way across town, Lucy turned to Bruce and asked, “What kind of invention are you working on?”   Bruce was always so secretive about his inventions in progress.
