René A. Schwaller de Lubicz founded the Masonic Order of the Sacred Way in 1919. This Grand Lodge was linked to the Egyptian School of the Mysteries of Osiris, as they were practiced at Abydos. He named the rite “Mer Nefer”, translated from ancient Egyptian into “Perfect Pyramid”. He was probably inspired by the papyrus T32 of Leyde, in which an old Egyptian priest recounts, in a barely veiled manner, his initiation into the Order of Osiris. The Rite of Mer Nefer is the only Masonic rite which is based on historical documents and symbolistic Egyptology.
