First approved on 16 May 1962 by the Deputy Chief of Staff for Military Operations and made retroactive to 1 January 1947, the Master Aircrew Badge displays a shield scored with horizontal lines bearing the coat of arms of the United States centered on a pair of wings. The Master Aircrew Badge includes a star surrounded by a laurel wreath atop the central shield to identify Army Aviator personnel who have performed 15 years of principal duty assignments and attained the grade of E-6 or higher. This badge has a Nickel finish, is 100% USA made, and is available in additional finishes including Black and Silver Oxide.
