Introduced on May 16, 1962, the Senior Aircrewman Badge is awarded to Army personnel who are recommended and on flying status or non-crewmembers, served 7 years on Aircrewman assignment and have achieved grade E-4 or higher. The badge displays a pair of wings signifying aerial flight, an overlaying central coat of arms of the United States representing loyalty and devotion, and a star atop the shield to indicate Senior qualification. All personnel who have met the requirements of this badge since January 1, 1947, are eligible for the award. This badge is also awarded in Crew Member and Master Aircraft Crew Member degrees.
