After two books, people will be more than familiar with Axl's dialect, so it should come as no surprise that while seeing the world through his eyes, words like this will be common: gonna, hafta, ain't, runnin', etc. All of this is intentional. Also, many zombie tales take place in a world where none of the characters has ever seen a zombie movie or read a zombie book. They're clueless and unprepared. Not mine. My characters have exposure to the genre, so it only makes sense that they would try to utilize some of the techniques they've come across in their favorite zombie shows or books. These elements are intentionally borrowed to try and lend a more realistic vibe to the story. (Well, as realistic as a zombie tale can get.) Because, let's be honest, if a zombie apocalypse happens next week, we're all going to be thinking about TWD . Kate L.
