Magic Hair is about an 8 year old African American girl named Nia who is frustrated with her thick, curly hair. Her mother, wanting Nia to love herself and her hair, teaches her daughter about all the magical things that her beautiful hair can do. She tells her that her hair, like clay, can be molded into anything! She also teaches her that her hair is fierce like a lion's mane, but can also be soft and gentle as a cloud. Nia, never knowing the magic behind her hair, finds a new appreciation for her hair and herself.
