Magical Theurgy presents a complete course in ritual magick and the Tarot. The book gives the extended use of elemental mudras or Godforms, meditation and Tantra-yoga plus simple and advanced magical rituals. The book includes a guide on how to make and charge magical talismans with illustrations of the Kameas or Magic Squares and sigils of the planetary spirits. Included in the Third Edition is a new compilation of the Qabalistic Key Scale magical correspondences: powers, potencies, perfumes, magical weapons, plants, gems, legendary creatures, vices and virtues. Divination is a magical means of opening and extending lines of communication between the temporal and eternal worlds. The most important function of the Tarot is as an initiatory device. The core of this book is the Grand Tarot Operation, a 30-day theurgic operation designed to act as a support to initiation. The Western Magical Tradition is riddled through with bible-based patriarchal monotheism. There was a need, therefore, to reverse some of the symbolism. Many of the old rituals and practices, even when dressed up in modern language, are infested with ages old sin, guilt, shame and fear. Ishtar, Babalon, Ashtaroth and Isis are all names for the vastly ancient divine Creatrix, to whom magical rites were dedicated. From a period dating approximately 500-600 BCE, emerging state monotheists began an eight-century long campaign to eliminate all magical practices (and practitioners) from the face of the earth. One has to be able to read things from left to right, from right to left, from front to back, back to front, and sometimes even upside down, in order to get to the truth. It was not a mistake that the Adept is shown hanging upside down in the Tarot Atu The Hanged Man XII. To him, our pentagrams are the right way up. The nature of the forces being worked with is the nature of our own being, which is what we are setting out to investigate. Oliver St. John has dedicated his life to the theory and practice of the occult, including related sciences of Tarot, Qabalah, ritual, astrology and divination, and is an acknowledged expert in these fields. He has written more than twenty books on these subjects, of which the most recent are concerned with pure metaphysics. He is the Director of Studies of Ordo Astri, Hermetic Order of the Star and Snake. Born in London, Oliver St. John's background includes training and working with Mary Long, author and student of Dion Fortune, the late Gareth Knight and Dolores Ashcroft-Nowicki, co-founder of Servants of the Light Association. He was at one time active in the neo-pagan Fellowship of Isis, enjoying a voluminous correspondence with Olivia Robertson, the co-founder. He is a member of the Typhonian Order since over twenty years, and has contributed articles, including a short story within the Lovecraft genre, to Starfire Journal. He continues to teach students around the world.

How are ratings calculated?
To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzes reviews to verify trustworthiness.
