He ruled jointly with Lucius Verus until Verus’ death in 169 A.D. He then ruled jointly with his son, Commodus, from 177 to his death in 180 A.D. He was the last of the so-called Five Good Emperors (Nerva, Trajan, Hadrian, Antoninus Pius, and Marcus Aurelius).
