Marcy the Mole is digging deeper in her latest adventure! Marcy wants to follow in the footsteps of her parents, but sometimes putting one large paw in front of the other is harder than it looks. Will Marcy and her new friends find their way home? St. Louis Society for the Blind and Visually Impaired is grateful for Marcy and how she advocates for those who are navigating vision loss. Marcy emulates our mission every day: enhancing independence, empowering individuals and enriching the lives of people-or moles-who are visually impaired or blind. She and Mark Buske are always on the move giving presentations about vision loss and emphasizing that vision loss is not a barrier to a full life. Thank you, Marcy! And thank you, Mark for this wonderful character you have created that builds awareness of our nonprofit organization and our vision rehabilitation services. -St. Louis Society for the Blind and Visually Impaired Mary Caldwell, MFA Marketing & Communications Coordinator St. Louis Society for the Blind and Visually Impaired Mark Edward Buske enjoyed thirty years in public school education, working as a choir, drama, and band director at both the elementary and secondary levels. In his retirement, Mark focuses on telling his stories and facing his own low-vision challenges. He is active in church leadership and community theater groups in Saint Charles County, Missouri. His memoir, "Growing Up Buske: a Collection of Memories," was released in 2021. Marcy the Mole arrived in 2022. The books are a reflection of Mark's childhood-that is, if he were a girl mole! Blaise Durrwachter is a fifth grader with a big imagination and love for drawing. He especially enjoyed creating the pictures for this book and brining the story to life. When he's not sketching, Blaise can usually be found playing soccer, running, or spending time with his family. He hopes his illustrations make you smile.
