Marianne’s Coming of Age is a memoir of a Third Culture Kid who spent a significant part of her childhood years growing up in other cultures: Quebec, New York City, Manila and Tokyo, Japan. Marianne shares her personal anecdotes about such icons as Lady Iris Mountbatten, Grace Kelly, Marlon Brando, Johnny Carson, Louis Armstrong, Miles Davis, Charlton Heston, Al Lettieri , and Charles Aznavour among others. Marianne’s mother, a show business icon in her own right, was a third-generation singer from New York City; her father, an acclaimed restaurateur, was a French-Canadian immigrant to New York City. After a Mafia hit in New York City put the family in peril, her stepfather, a shipowner from Hong Kong and Macau, relocated Marianne and her family to Asia. In Japan her godparents were Dr. Sosuke Shibasaki (a descendent of Samurai Taro no Masakado from 940 A.D.) and his wife from whom she learned the traditions and culture of Japan. She attended San Jose Abad Santos Elementary school in Manila, graduated from the International School of the Sacred Heart in Tokyo, and attended Sophia University in Tokyo. Marianne, a former engineer, now makes her home in New Mexico, USA where she paints and appraises antiques and fine art.

How are ratings calculated?
To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzes reviews to verify trustworthiness.
