This print is taken from a 17th century wood carving by the artist Alexander Mair from the "Memento Mori" series, meaning "Remember Death" in Latin. Memento mori is the medieval theory and practice of reflection on mortality, especially as a means of considering the vanity of earthly life and the transient nature of all earthly goods and pursuits. The top words read "Per Peccatum Mors" which is Latin for "death through sin." The bottom words read "In Omnes Homines Mors Pertransiit" which is Latin for "death spread amoungst all men." Screen printed on 100% cotton duck canvas fabric. Can easily be framed or used as a sew-on back patch. Machine washable. Water-based environmentally friendly ink. Size measurements are displayed in the second image. Measures approximately 13 x 16 inches
