My new book, Memories of Marion , is a collection of short stories based on my personal experience of hiking and fishing in Oregon's Jefferson Wilderness Area. The book features Marion Lake, a great fishing ground for Rainbow and Brook trout. The book is dedicated to my friend, Mike Jaskilka, with whom I have shared most of the adventures recorded here. Following the example of outdoor writer and humorists Patrick McManus (1933-2018) and the stories of his outdoor adventures, I have sought to liven the accounts of my own experiences with sufficient humor to maintain the readers interest and, hopefully, produce a few chuckles. This book is designed to entertain more than enlighten. A good cup of coffee and a comfortable easy chair are essential to getting the full value intended in this composition. If you don’t understand or appreciate the humor tucked away in the stories recorded here, please put down my book and go read Leo Tolstoy’s, War and Peace . After you have finished, then return to Memories of Marion . The contrast between these tomes will keep you smiling pleasantly through every chapter!
