When obedience means death, Puah’s defiance may bring the hope of deliverance. In the land of Egypt, Puah, a skilled midwife, leads a simple life until a fateful decree from Pharaoh shatters her world; she must kill all newborn Hebrew boys. Obedience means innocent lives lost, but defiance means her own death. As the Hebrews suffer under harsh slavery, Pharaoh spares Puah and her guild—for now. But everything changes when Moses, a hidden Hebrew child raised by the Princess, rejects his royal inheritance, and flees after a deadly mistake. Decades later, he returns as God’s chosen leader and brings plagues to devastate the land. Puah, with her medical expertise and compassionate heart, stands in the center of this divine confrontation. As the final plague unfolds, she faces a decision that will change her life forever: stay in the only land she has ever known, or follow Yahweh into the wilderness, leaving behind the women she has dedicated her life to serve. Accompany Puah as she faces tests of faith and discovers her path to obedience in Midwives of Moses , Book 1 in the Faith Finders series. "So gripping, you become part of the book." ★★★★★ from C. Marshall Writing about history can be tough. Following along as a reader can be even tougher. So, I wanted to add this note to offer an outline of this novel. Please take into consideration that because each person looking back at recorded history will measure dates and events in different ways, we'll never have a 100% accurate timeline. Also remember, this novel is a work of fiction. Though it is a story based on real people and real events it's, in and of itself, complete fiction. It always amazed me that the Pharaohs' names are never mentioned in the Biblical account. To this day, scholars debated as to the exact rulers under which this story took place. Pharaohs' rules were measured and recorded in years of their rule. They did not record birth and deaths or other events by the calendar year as you and I would today. Many Pharaohs also co-ruled which produced overlapping dates. In addition, Pharaohs took multiple wives. Though there was a wife hierarchy as to keep the line of rule clear. Upon doing my own research, I've settled on the 18th Dynasty of Egypt as the setting for my fictitious retelling of this story.  For the Pharaohs in this book, I'd like to give you an outline of my calculations of dates. After much research, and discovering that every historian has their own guess-timation about the years, this is my best guess.  Placing the cornerstone fact into place that the Exodus from Egypt by the Hebrews happened in 1446 B.C., that would put Moses' birth in 1526 B.C. since he was eighty when they left Egypt. Thutmose I = ruled 1529-1516 - Thutmose II = ruled 1516-1503 - Queen Hatshepsut/Pharaoh Hatshepsu = ruled 1503-1482 - Thutmose III = ruled 1482-1432   Regardless of which Pharaohs ruled, we do have the names of two Hebrew midwives, Shiphrah and Puah recorded. The men, who were considered earth dwelling gods, did not get the honor of having their names listed for record. Instead, that honor goes to two brave women who risked their own lives to spare the lives of hundreds, possibly thousands, of Hebrew male children. Numbers 1:46 tells us that there was a recorded census counting 603,550 men over the age of 20 who left Egypt. Certainly, these midwives assisted in keeping some of them alive during Pharaoh's edict 80 years prior to them leaving Egypt. God always rewards faith. This story is simply another shining example of what awaits those who trust God's way and put action to their faith. I'm proud to share their story with you in hopes that when you face a difficult circumstance, you'll remember these women and be brave enough to choose God's way.   ~Jenifer                 Are you caught up on all Jenifer Jennings' books?
