Miracles Relied Upon is the history of the People’s Resource Center and its development from a group of people who set out to face a challenge and found that their approach led to the discovery of many more challenges. They first realized that a “community” approach multiplies the talents and efforts of individuals and then discovered that an entire county of almost a million people can be a community. Under the inspiration and direction of one woman, Dorothy McIntyre, and the dedication of those who worked with and followed after her, the People’s Resource Center grew from an idea to a multifunctional organization that presently meets the needs of over 30,000 of its neighbors with the resources of their neighbors in DuPage County, Illinois. The most important “miracle relied upon” at the PRC is the spirit of community that continues to be its energizing force. Margaret Roth was born in Stuttgart, Germany, and came to the United States in 1968 to teach economics at Rosary College (now Dominican University) in River Forest, Illinois. On the day after she arrived, she was introduced to the Religious Education Center, the forerunner of the People's Resource Center. As the PRC evolved, she became its first treasurer and a volunteer in its early activities. After thirty years of teaching international economics and business at Benedictine University in Lisle, Illinois, she is now professor emerita. Warren Roth was born in Jersey City, New Jersey. He came to DuPage County in 1949 as a student. Later, as an anthropology professor, he taught at Maryknoll College in Glen Ellyn, Illinois, and at Chicago State University. He has worked as a volunteer and as a board member at the PRC. He is now retired from teaching and from the board of the PRC. Used Book in Good Condition
